The Toms Project

Born out of the concept “Shoes for Tomorrow” Blake Mycoskie launched Toms in 2006 with a mission to send a free pair of shoes per everyone sold to disadvantaged children in Argentina and other developing nations, after a holiday saw him witness the massive problem for himself. The simple canvas slip on now a famous Toms silhouette was inspired by a popular style in Argentina, Mycoskie developed the popular alpargata style for the American market commissioning the manufacturing of 250 pairs however their popularity quickly took off with orders for nine times more than availability allowed. With 10,000 pairs sold in the first year, October of 2006 saw the first batch of 10,000 free shoes sent to Argentina. Toms have not stopped there, ever since they have continually helped disadvantaged youth with over 100,000,000 pairs of shoes given and other support projects underway.
